Ben Morton makes building a house an exhilarating exploit. This was my seventh experience building a house and by far, it was the best. Ben was organized and conscientious. From the beginning of the project and on, he would get right back to me with answers to my questions and concerns. When I had anxiety about a choice I had made, Ben listened and provided the incite necessary for me to make an educated decision. The sub-contractors he chose were right here on time. Steve and I hired Ben Morton for our renovation/expansion to our home during the summer of 2009. Our project was not simple, and Ben was hands on from beginning to end overseeing every detail from the sub-contractors to his own crew. Ben built an addition to my home with a vaulted ceiling and glass on three sides. It involved a very difficult tie into the existing house with a structural arch. His attention to detail was impeccable. He kept us up to date daily on his progress and consulted us whenever unforeseen problems arose. My partner and I hired Ben Morton based on laudatory word-of-mouth references for him from individuals for whom he had done work. Though young, they said, he has an eye for detail and quality and he can do what you want.

From the outset, it was obvious that we had chosen the builder for us. At the initial planning phases, he listened to our needs and wants and questioned us about details. This established a pattern of communication that we have never had with any builder with whom we have previously worked. It was as though he cared about the project as much as we did and wanted it right.

We hired Ben as general contractor, and he was sensitive to time and detail in dealing with us as well as the land-movers, electricians, supplies, etc. Often he would question us more than once to reconfirm our ideas in light of costs and time. He let us know the cost details of our choices, and also what any changes to design would add or subtract from the cost.

Ben’s mind for detail and his work ethic are exemplary. He would question our choices, offer suggestions about what might work or look better, clarify the results of the choices we were making. Then he and Dale would efficiently transform the plans into reality. He was at our home jobsite when he promised. He followed through with all the plans we had made together. He kept the code enforcement officer in our municipality in the know. His charges were reasonable; even with a some changes to the design which we requested, he didn’t charge us for designing time. The yard was always left neat and organized.

We chose the right person for the job. If and when we have another building job, we will call on Ben to do it.
